Old Testament

1 Chronicles 9
91So all Israel was enrolled by their genealogies, and these were written in the Book of the Kings of Israel, until Judah was carried away captive to Babylon because of their unfaithfulness.
The Descent of Those Who Returned From Captivity
2Now the first group of inhabitants who settled in their property in their cities consisted of Israelites, priests, Levites, and temple servants.
The Israelites
3People from Judah, people from Benjamin, people from Ephraim, and people from Manasseh lived in Jerusalem.
4They included Uthai the son of Ammihud, the son of Omri, the son of Imri, the son of Bani[] from the sons of Perez, the son of Judah.
5From the Shilonites:[] Asaiah the firstborn and his sons.
6From the sons of Zerah: Jeuel and their brothers, 690.
7From the sons of Benjamin: Sallu the son of Meshullam, the son of Hodaviah, the son of Hassenuah, 8also Ibneiah the son of Jeroham, and Elah the son of Uzzi, the son of Mikri, and Meshullam the son of Shephatiah, the son of Reuel, the son of Ibnijah, 9and their brothers, according to their genealogies, 956 men. All these men were heads of families, listed according to their fathers' houses.
The Priests
10From the priests:
Jedaiah, Jehoiarib, Jakin, 11and Azariah the son of Hilkiah, the son of Meshullam, the son of Zadok, the son of Meraioth, the son of Ahitub, the supervisor of God's house.
12Adaiah the son of Jeroham, the son of Pashhur, the son of Malkijah, and Ma'asai the son of Adiel, the son of Jahzerah, the son of Meshullam, the son of Meshillemith, the son of Immer; 13and their brothers, heads of their fathers' houses, 1,760 very capable men for the work of the service in God's house.
The Levites
14From the Levites:
Shemaiah the son of Hasshub, the son of Azrikam, the son of Hashabiah, from the descendants of Merari; 15Bakbakkar, Heresh, Galal, and Mattaniah the son of Mica, the son of Zikri, the son of Asaph; 16Obadiah the son of Shemaiah, the son of Galal, the son of Jeduthun, and Berekiah the son of Asa, the son of Elkanah, who lived in the villages of the Netophathites.
The Gatekeepers
17The gatekeepers included Shallum, Akkub, Talmon, Ahiman, and their brothers (Shallum was in charge), 18who previously served in the King's Gate on the east side of the Temple. They were the gatekeepers for the camp of the descendants of Levi. 19Shallum the son of Kore, the son of Ebiasaph, the son of Korah, together with his brothers from his father's house, the Korahites, were in charge of the work of the service, guardians of the entrance to the Tent. Their fathers had been over the Lord's camp as guardians of the entrance.
20Phinehas son of Eleazar had been ruler over them in the past, and the Lord had been with him.
21Zechariah son of Meshelemiah was gatekeeper of the entrance to the Tent of Meeting. 22All these who were chosen to be gatekeepers in the doorways numbered 212.
Those whom David and Samuel the seer appointed to their office of trust were listed by genealogy, according to their villages. 23So they and their sons were in charge of the gates of the Lord's house, when the house was still a tent. 24The gatekeepers were positioned on the four sides, east, west, north, and south. 25Their brothers who were in their villages were to take turns coming in to be with them for a seven-day shift.
26So four chief gatekeepers, who were Levites, were in an office of trust and were in charge of the rooms and the treasuries in God's house. 27They were stationed around God's house through the night, because that duty was assigned to them, and their duty was to open it every morning. 28Some of them were in charge of the vessels for the service. They counted them before and after each service. 29Some of them also were in charge of the furnishings and all the vessels of the sanctuary, as well as the fine flour, wine, oil, incense, and spices.
30Some of the sons of the priests prepared the mixture of the spices. 31Mattithiah, one of the Levites, who was the firstborn of Shallum the Korahite, was entrusted with making the flatbread for offerings. 32Some of their brothers from the sons of the Kohathites were responsible for preparing the bread that was set out and arranged every Sabbath.
The Musicians
33These are the singers, heads of fathers' households of the Levites, who lived in the rooms at the temple and were free from other service, because they were busy with their work day and night. 34These were heads of fathers' households of the Levites, throughout their generations, head men. These lived at Jerusalem.
