Hebrews
The letter to the Hebrews seems to have been written before the destruction of Jerusalem in 70 AD. So, the approximate date of writing may have been 65-69 AD. See Hebrews 5:1-3; 9:6-9; 10:1-3. The identity of the inspired writer of this letter is unknown. Some in the early church considered Paul to be the author of this letter and included it with his inspired writings. Others regarded Barnabas as the author (Acts 13:1-40). Still others have found the style of writing to be similar to the writing of Luke. Martin Luther suggested that the inspired writer might have been Apollos (Acts 18:24-28).
God Speaks to Us By His Son
11In the past, God spoke to our forefathers by the prophets at many times and in many ways. 2In these last days, he has spoken to us by his Son, whom he appointed heir of all things, and through whom he made the universe. 3The Son is the radiance of God's glory and the exact imprint of the divine nature. He sustains all things by his powerful word. After he had provided purification for sins,[] he took his seat at the right hand of the Majesty on high.
The Son Is Superior to the Angels
4The Son became as much superior to the angels as the name he has inherited is more excellent than theirs. 5For to which of the angels did God ever say:
And again:
6And again, when he brought his firstborn into the world, he said:
7About the angels he says:
8But about the Son he says:
God, your throne is forever and ever,
and the scepter of righteousness is the scepter of your kingdom.
9You have loved righteousness and hated wickedness.
10And he says:
In the beginning, Lord, you laid the foundation of the earth,
and the heavens are the works of your hands.
11They will perish, but you remain.
They will all become old like a garment.
12You will roll them up like a robe,
But you are the same,
13To which of the angels has he ever said:
14Are not all angels ministering spirits sent out to serve for the benefit of those who are going to inherit salvation?
