Footnotes

  • 7:3 Or wagons. Ancient pictorial evidence, however, suggests the vehicles were two-wheeled ox carts, not four-wheeled wagons.
  • 7:13 Etymology suggests that a qe'ara is a deep dish or bowl, but some think it means platter.
  • 7:13 One hundred thirty regular shekels weigh about fifty-two ounces. Seventy regular shekels weigh about twenty-eight ounces. Presumably the sanctuary shekel weighed more.
  • 7:14 Hebrew Kaf refers to the palm of the hand, so it refers to a small bowl, spoon, or ladle.
  • 7:17 A different and rarer Hebrew word for goat than that used in verse 16. Also in verses 23, 29, 35, 41, 47, 53, 59, 65, 71, 77, 83, 87, and 88.
  • 7:89 Traditionally mercy seat
