1 Chronicles 11:1-3
David Becomes King
111All Israel gathered to David at Hebron to say, “Look! We are your flesh and blood.[] 2Previously when Saul was king, you led Israel out to battle and back again. Besides, the Lord your God said to you, ‘You shall shepherd my people Israel and be leader over my people Israel.’”
3All the elders of Israel came to the king at Hebron. David made a covenant with them there in the presence of the Lord. They anointed David king over Israel, according to the word of the Lord from Samuel.
